Last weekend, City Sound Project took over Dane John Garden and provided the residents of Canterbury with music and entertainment.

The event, run by Student Republic, ran over two days and saw over thousands of people enjoy the festivities.

Watch CSP in the Parks promotional video:

There was live music at three different venues in the park, with artists ranging from Ross Uttridge to The Cuban Brothers.

Ross Uttridge told The Canterbury Hub the energy of the crowd made up for the weather. “It has such a wicked vibe that means all the people there give off lots of positive energy.

“This makes for the best possible atmosphere at these kind of things, even if the weather was questionable.”

Thomas Ashby also performed a set on the City Wall Stage and he told us it was good to perform again in Canterbury.

” I hadn’t performed in Canterbury for a little while – it was lovely to see some familiar faces and try out new material.

“From a performers point of view, it’s a brilliant opportunity to reach new audiences and make an impression.

“I’m hugely grateful to CSP for providing the opportunity, and for putting on events that are great for the community.”

Other entertainment included flag-making and story telling, as well as a yoga session from ‘Body In Mind.’

Event organiser Student Republic told The Canterbury Hub the event went “very well!”

“We battled with Hail stones and high-speed winds on Saturday which is less than ideal for a music festival! But we had more people attend than last year and we’re very excited to see the people of Canterbury attend and support the event no matter what!

“Every year we try and add something new or exciting to the festival.

“We’re always expanding in some shape or form.

“This is our free community event, our way of giving something back to the city that we have operated in for many years.”
